WebI was watching Prey in dolby vision - the last 10-15 min of the movie are fairly dark. I noticed the screen getting darker and darker until everything was just completely black-crushed. The scene then switches to a daytime scene and, just as you described, it stays dim for about half a second... then suddenly brightens up substantially.
